More Warhammer Empire classic halberdiers

 Hello guys,

As every year, from November to January, I enter somehow in a Fantasy mood and always paint Warhammer related stuff.  During the lasts weeks I have been playing classic Warhammer Quest (1995) with a friend, and next month I will have at last a game of Warhammer Fantasy 5th edition (aka. Herohammer or Middlehammer) with another friend, so I had to expand my Imperial forces.

My Altorf regiment of halberdiers had (until now) just 10 men, including command, so I have to strengthen it until 15 soldiers and later 20.

Here are the last 4 troopers available to recruit.

As you can see, these are classic monopose halberdiers, the first plastic miniatures available for the Empire in the early nineties.

I painted them with Foundry paints (reds, blues, browns) and Vallejo model color and model air (flesh, blacks and metals) then ultra matt varnish for clothes and flesh, and shinny for the metal parts.  The shields were painted (all 20 shields at once)  a while ago with airbrush and masking tape, then shinny varnish, decal , very old decal!  then more shinny varnish and then matt varnish to seal it.

I hope you like them.

And the unit so far:

Cheers!

My Warhammer Empire army so far

Hello guys!

As I have mentioned in earlier posts of this blog, I have been working for a few years in a personal project that made me very excited when I was a child; a painted Empire army of the 90s, with all that "landsknecht" and multicolored look. Thanks to Ebay and other second-hand platforms, I have been able to buy almost all the miniatures I wanted, and in recent times I have been painting an imperial force in order to play Warhammer, or better said, Oldhammer.

What you can see painted in the photo is what is painted to this day, I have other units in process, and other painted units that are NOT in the photo and that I will upload on another occasion:

so excluded in the photos are
- painted Imperial plastic archers.
- painted Imperial plastic militia mixed with Mordheim figures.

In the photos you can see

- Karl Franz on griffon
- Grand Master of the Knights Panther
- Imperial sorcerer
- 10 halberdiers with command group (10 more to be painted)
- 10 crossbowmen with command group (two more to be painted)
- Grand Cannon with crew
- Hellblaster volley gun with crew
- 7 Reiksguard on foot with command group (3 more to be painted)
- Steam tank
- Empire War Wagon

what a heavy ball...

Mmm... Leonardo of Miragliano??

To the previous forces I have in the pipeline , to be added when they are painted (all metal)
-5 Panther Knights
-5 pistoliers
-10 handgunners
- another halberdier unit
-10 lancers with shield
- swordsman unit
-Halfling unit and hot pot!!!

As you can see, I still have work ahead...

Cheers!

Classic GW Empire halberdiers

Hello,

This time some old school painting... Yes, the box of Warhammer Empire Altdorf  halberdiers came to me. Over the past few years, I have been collecting most Empire miniatures of 4th and 5th editions all over the internet, and started a childhood project, painting a high standard Empire army. In a future post, I will showcase it here, but today, I will post some pics of my "w.i.p." halberdier regiment. I have 20 miniatures with the metal command, but have painted only 10 for now. They show their age, but are nice miniatures, with that old flavour GW had in its "Golden Age".

I painted them with GW paints, Vallejo and Foundry triads. The decals, although old, fit perfectly and add a nice touch to the unit.  The banner is printed, I am horrible at free hand banners I'm afraid.

I hope you like the minis, I  personally like them a lot, and I'm quite pleased with the result.
